Dear Bill,

Hello and how are you? How is everybody in your family? I hope everyone is in good health. Hey Bill where have you been now? How you been doing after return to your home? Why don't you write me a letter.? I think maybe you forget everything over here before Bill my mother always ask about you.? Bill! Do you remember Fhil Lackey and Robert Cole? They are die after you going home about four months. Is VC rocket come to Lai Khe everyday and night. Make many G.I. and Vietnamese die. My friend the one named Ruby.

and many more don't know they are die too. Bill tell me what you think of the bombing in here Viet Nam? Bill I'm now same as G.I. We are going to Army one month ago. My younger sister still go to school and my brother die two months ago. Bill what can I say and what can I do? I say VC is number ten and I this know I'm been doing what Army doing. Well Bill let me stop here and wish you very good luck. My kind regards to your family. Don't laugh if you don't understand what I wrote. Because I'm not write English very well.

(This is a letter I got from one of the daughters of a momma san that had a house-bar in the village, I never wrote to her, because I just couldn't find a way to tell her I was safe living a free life again. I always have regretted not writing her but, this letter has been read to alot of people who thought they had it bad and brought quite a few of them back to reality).
